About:

The Speech Language Therapy Course prepares professionals to work in the areas of prevention, identification, diagnosis and intervention of communication, language, speech and swallowing disorders. Along with the development of professional competencies in these areas, students are involved in research and management projects related to the field of Speech Language Therapy.

The intervention of speech language therapists ( SLT) may occur at any age in the life of their clients, and involves quite often the interaction with other specialists (teachers, doctors, psychologists or other therapists). Whenever needed, the SLT works in straight cooperation with the client’s families in order to promote client’s integration both in the family and in the community.

Goals

The objective of this training proposal is the integrated development of professional competences, by combining levels of theory, attitude and practice.
The theoretical curricular units contribute to frame the options made in the analysis of professional cases, substantiating the practice based on the evidence. The curricular units of personal and professional nature aim to develop the essential soft skills.

In the curricular units of practice are trained specific techniques inherent to the exercise of the profession.

Speech-language therapists provide care in various areas related to human communication including voice, articulation, fluency, swallowing language and communication disorders. Professional intervention may occur in different settings, such as Hospitals, Health Care Centres, Rehabilitation Centres, Clinics and Private Care Centres, Schools and Kindergartens, Early Intervention Teams, Special Education Institutions, Support Services to Elderly People, Companies, Education and Research Centres.
